Head boats from nj make trips to block island. I had one booked for fri/sat from belmar but it got canceled. As far as bait rigs tie one as follows. On a 60 lb leader tie a double overhand loop big enough to slip on a 20 oz sinker. Go up 18 inches and tie a dropper loop 8 to 10 inches. Go up another 18 inches and tie another 8 to 10 inch dropper. Top off with a barrel swivel and thread a 6/0 bait holder on each dropper and you are set. Best "fishes"

Hey guys i was thinking of maybe doing one of those trips in the future. How long does it usually take to steam up to block island? It was a 6.5 hour drive from Brick to Montauk. Any shorter by water?

WOW.....last wed i made it to montauk from Waretown (exit 69) in 3.5 hours each way. Left at 830 pm (going to the boat) and 630pm (going home).

I think there are a few faster boats out of pt pl.

Easy drive

going to give the FF another try soon as my wife wants to go enjoy some of the fine February sunshine up there in New England (visiting relatives)

My vote has always been to drive up to Montauk. I think its easier to ride in my truck thank get beat up on the boat. I live in delran and can make it in 4 and a half if I dont get jamed in NY. Just my opinion. TJ

I am on the trip out of Belmar on the Miss B this Friday the 12th - it leavs at 8:00pm. I would rather sleep the 6+ hours than drive and I love driving. There is a bunk for everyone on the boat. It is not the ride up but the ride back after fishing that would be a bummer but I know many, many people do it.

I was worried about the NewMoon as well but you go when you can.
