if the weather is bad it is long ride by boat drive by land not bad on the way out just coming back:thumbsup:

Do you prefer boat or car travel?

Would you rather drive a car in traffic OR Sit as a passenger of a boat and prolly nap???

I did the MBP trip from belmar to Block island last year.It was about a 6 hr boat ride.The advantage was we stopped on a wreck on the way home and caught more cod and some pollock.Then I slept for 4 hrs,woke up and only had an hour car drive home.

We were lucky and had decent weather.

But,the fare is half the price on a Montauk head boat.

Voyager out of pp is $250 limit 30 pass

Boat out of belmar is $200 limit 40 pass possible $25 fuel surcharge if prices go up

Boats leave Montauk usually at 3am and cost around $100 to $110. They fish until about 2pm and head back in. It is about a 2 to 2.5 hour ride to the fishing grounds

A trip from the Jersey shore will cost you over double and a much longer steam. Some pluses to this trip include you can sleep more/drive less. More importantly you can hit some wrecks on the way out and back in. this can save a trip.

Net/net, there are pro's and con's to both trips.

I usually make the drive, but that is just me.

A few years back i did a 30 hr cod special on the vss. Great time. Last year i did a mbp cod trip. Great time. Book a 6 pak out of mass, this being our third one. Great time. Go and try them all. Life is a one lap race. You only go around once. Best "fishes"
