Hey guys,
I always thought that if I went to a 29+ foot boat, I'd want diesel engines. But with the advent of 300+HP outboards, is that really a good decision?
Regardless of fishability, getting around the outboards with rods, trolling water discussions, what do people find are the average costs to maintain both types of motors? (I had a HS 2596 with twin 200's and on average it cost me about $2000 a year for maintance, updates, repairs on the outboards per year over 10 years of having them).
1 - what is annual maintance of a Diesel vs a 300HP
2 - longevity seems to be a big factor on diesels but at what cost?
3 - mpg is a consideration, but is it really that different any more
Thanks!
