Dredges, options and advise

Looking to add a dredge or 2 into the mix, looking for advise and thoughts...

Like the 9 inch bulb squid, been looking at 6 and 8 point umbrella rigs with weights? folding?, up to 11 bulb squid on em with a stinger. Have seen some decent ones also thinking of building...seemed to develope a following the last couple of years...looks like you can fill the gap w/ these buy getting down a 100 feet at 3 knots of so. Gotta think there is a bit of tension w/ a 8 point 3 pound dredge some ways back? saw some photos of them in action down about 7/8 feet and they look pretty sweet.

Thoughts?

Hey Fly,

Hope winter is treating you well. Won't be long and we will be back out there chasing around the pelagics again. I am going to add a dredge this year as we may have to target marlin if the yellowfin bite sucks.

Chicken of the Sea
Probably mid-April - I don't really get into it until the bunker show and I can live line those big fish. Never got into the clamming game. I can not wait to get offshore and chase the tuna and marlin again. I have the boat in my driveway so I sat out there and smoked a cigar earlier while I fiddled with some gear. It will be here before we know it. Enjoy the rest of your winter and we'll keep in touch.

Fly,

Do you have teaser reels on that YF? I am considering adding a pair this year.

Fly,

A good enclosure will make all the difference in the world for you. I fished the boat until December 28th - had to shovel the snow out of it to use it. Once I got in the enclosure it was like the greenhouse effect - nice and cozy. Plus on those days when you are zipping back from the canyon at 45 kts in that Fin - you'll be deaf from the wind without one. Regarding teaser reels I am looking at the Sport-teasers brand - trying to figure out how to get the lines to my riggers without poking a hole in my top or enclosure (no way i am doing that).

Hey Hat,

How is the bad wheel treating you? It won't be long now and we will be back on the water chasing the tunies.
I don't know if I can handle that kind of luxury. I might get spoiled and have to sell my go fast for something big and comfy:D. I am used to donuts, cold coffee and soggy sandwiches.
