Dredges, options and advise

Looking to add a dredge or 2 into the mix, looking for advise and thoughts...

Like the 9 inch bulb squid, been looking at 6 and 8 point umbrella rigs with weights? folding?, up to 11 bulb squid on em with a stinger. Have seen some decent ones also thinking of building...seemed to develope a following the last couple of years...looks like you can fill the gap w/ these buy getting down a 100 feet at 3 knots of so. Gotta think there is a bit of tension w/ a 8 point 3 pound dredge some ways back? saw some photos of them in action down about 7/8 feet and they look pretty sweet.

Thoughts?

not a problem.

i spoke personally with fred archer and he gave me some insight into these spider bars he designed. they have many a marlin and large yellowfin under their belt, and you can always rig them with what ever youd like. i ordered the 9" with pink with a green hook bait, but plan on running the hook bait with either a 12" green machine , or a naked rigged ballyhoo. look forward to using it!
Hey Zar,

I might call him and ask to rig em in rainbow if possible, also really like the "Pro Teaser" a really neat bally set up, those big eyes are cool and the can take speed. Just got one of the 9's in pink w/ green stinger, get a rainbow and add a "Pro teaser in blue and white....he makes a good observation on the costs of mulitpule bally's...just use the pro...hmmm, I'm in. Will shout him tomorrow.

Pardon,

ment to say "Pro Spider" not Pro Teaser...

MF
Fly,

Do you have teaser reels on that YF? I am considering adding a pair this year.

COTS
Hey COTS,

Reconfiguring the spread options now that I have a couple more rods and had not thought about it but now that you bring it up....hmmm? I have always liked all lines working (stingers/baits). Not sure...think on it, thanks for mentioning. Enclosure is next, gotta watch the budget!

WHATS UUUUPPPP CHRIS FLY AND CHRIS COTS AND MR VICIOUS TO,
I HAVE TEASER REELS ON THE BIG BOAT THEY REALY ONLY SERVE THE PURPOSE FOR STRAIGHT UP MARLIN FISHING AS FAR AS IM CONCERNED.WE USUALLY JUST HOOK UP SOME LARGER BOWLING PINS TO A KLEET WHEN IT COMES TO TUNA.JUST SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT .HOPE ALL OF YOU ARE AS STIR CRAZY AS I AM.:wave:
Hey Brother!!!!!

NOT LONG NOW.....LEG'S HEALIN NICELY?

mf
Sure legs great ,especially after today when the doc stuck a more or less 3 inch rigging needle of supart meds into my ankle and i mean all the way in.gee lucky me only 1 per week for the next 4 weeks.i think i would rather be bit by a green crab.at least i could break his claw off.if i hit the dr in a fit of rage i might get in a bit of trouble.on a lighter note seems like your going to tear it up off shore this season

Fly,

A good enclosure will make all the difference in the world for you. I fished the boat until December 28th - had to shovel the snow out of it to use it. Once I got in the enclosure it was like the greenhouse effect - nice and cozy. Plus on those days when you are zipping back from the canyon at 45 kts in that Fin - you'll be deaf from the wind without one. Regarding teaser reels I am looking at the Sport-teasers brand - trying to figure out how to get the lines to my riggers without poking a hole in my top or enclosure (no way i am doing that).

COTS
Ditto COTS,

Either getting wind burn coming back or freezing my twins off on that late fall inshore tuna run, was out till Dec 19th...even drizzel stings at that speed, running with ski goggles and that was a joke. Its gonna suck my budget dry but hey its the start of a new season! Rich @ Captains Outfitters is going to set me up...Going to wait until the rig is splash ready and then look at the teaser set up. Yeah, and speaking of crap weather...looks like another foot on Thursday....PLEASE!

Adam, you should have asked for the bionic leg. Bring a mako on board live and just stomp him to death.

Chris, I hope you're napping. Those spider bars look great. Get a few and we'll rig them to match the hatch. Capt. John knows his stuff!
Dude,

Napping??? its like being under house arrest until it melts! one wants fench toast, the other says pancakes...I say, here some ceral and your going to school! all good but the colbalt waits...

Oh man. Pancakes sound great. Just think about when you're old, you'll have the boys to take you fishing and make you pancakes.
funny,

Cause that actually what I made...and french toast and eggs over easy. Maybe get to that must have list today....?

MF

Add to list: 20 or so feet of 5/8 chain, 1800ft of 1/2 anchor line. anchor ball, spring clip.... Not sure what you already have.

I bet on Adam's boat you could make a mean breakfast in the canyon. Bacon, eggs, pancakes. I've never had such luxuries. Usually it's a soggy wawa sub, a red bull and some pretzels.

Can I tie my rig up in your slip while were out? That LI traffic is killer. You're 2 hours by car 1 by boat.
