Hi guys, I have an opportunity to get into a dock for the season at Farley Marina in A.C. Still mulling it over. I was docked up on the Mullica at a freinds house. A.C. is much closer to me and my job now so it wouldbe nice to get on the water right after the job. I don't know the area all that much, as far as fishin' honey holes and the such. I don't want anyone to give away any pertinent info either on the board, but any advice or tips to get me on the fish in the AC area would be great. I have a 17' mako so i'll be out front and out back. Thanks in advance!

You shouldn't have a hard time finding spots to fish from there. Plenty near by, back and front. Pick you days and run to the reefs and wrecks.

Believe it or not you are probably closer to Grassy Channel in AC than you are up the Mullica. There is a lot of great water along the waterway between the two spots. and if you like to get in the ocean you will have a whole lot more opprotunity.

When your'e ready to catch some stripers stop by and someone here will point you in the right direction.

You'll find plenty of fishing areas in the back of AC and Brig...Check out a chart or go hunting w/ the depth finder for some of the good depth changes. On the ocean side, there are great lumps just out front, some close wrecks and of course the reefs (AC & Great Egg). Feel free to shoot me an email for any assistance!!

I docked at Farley 2 years ago... have you checked the price yet? They are way high. Have you seen the 35 page rental agreement yet? Are you prepared to deal with the in water boat show, the less than great security, and the union operations guys that will charge you 35-$50 for everything from installing your dock box (you are prohibited from doing it yourself and it MUST be a triangle box that fits their specs) to wiping your butt.

I did like fishing out of Absecon Inlet but my Farley experience was expensive and not great... not horrible, but not great...

I docked there for 5 years. Wife and I loved it. It was expansive, but well worth it for what is offered. We had Sea Ray's at the time so the amentities such as cable, water, and phone were cool. Great bathrooms with washers and dryers. Large fish cleaning stations. Docks are well maintained. I thought the security was fine. I was on I dock right across from the Coast Guard and Marine state police. The bulk head at J dock is being replaced this year so I assume you would be closer to A dock. Larger parking lot on that side. I have many family members and friends there. I can't wait to get back. For now I'm in Brigantine. The area is great. Bunch of restaurants less then 10 minutes via boat. Pool access in the casino...untouchable night life. You can pull the boat up on Brigantine beach with the kids. It just fits everything from fishing to partying and everything in between. The back bays produce a great number of fish in that area. I have 48 spots on my plotter less then 10 miles off. Boat show could be a pain if you had a 40, 50 or 60 footer...they use E and F docks for that including the A dock parking lot. But heck you will be attending!!

Downsides were the insurance policies. They want their name included on everything. When parking was full you had to pay for casino parking. The gym was included, but now you need a membership. Kammerman's and Trump are the only two gas stations right there with attendants. Price for a CC that only fishes (probably high).

Fish.Net, if I was coming down for the weekend from Philly or out of town to spend the weekend on my boat I think I would have enjoyed the experience more.... but I live in Margate....

I was on B dock, and finding a weekend parking spot was always a problem... there were at least a half dozen break-ins during my season there including one while the owners were onboard sleeping and chased the guy down the dock...

FMTuna it's a shame something like that happened. Stuff like that can ruin a place. Hope they caught up to him. I don't want him around when I go back!!

aside from the cost, I really like the anemities that they have to offer. Its always nice to jump into a nice hot shower to wash the stink off before heading home. Like I said I'm still mulling it over. Tuna, any suggestions for docking in the AC area?

Like I said, if you are going to use the facilities and are willing to pay the freight, it's not horrible, just very..... "public" (how is that for being P.C.?)

I think if I wanted to stay near Absecon inlet and didn't need the amenities, I'd grab a paper and look for a private slip....

Had a friend who docked there fo 3 years. it has its ups and downs. ups there is some great fishing there at times. if you like to relax its a short ride to the beach at brigatine.the downs security is not the best and if you have awife that likes to gamble you wont have to worry about the dock cost puttin you in the poor house the casino will.
