The ramp is still open and free. I've heard they are getting some flounder and also the stakes are not in the water so be careful on your way out, gets real shallow real quick outside the channel.

Good luck, we'll be giving it a try on Sunday ;)

amen... </font>[/QUOTE]Well i can't say you didn't warn me! I had no problem going out, but coming back in at low tide was not fun. There were many boats high and dry around me. Those unmarked stakes are a killer.

Fishing was not good for me (the little I did of it) but the main reason for the trip was to shake the bugs out of the new ride, so I'm happy.

Does everyone just shoot straight across toward AC/Brig or is there fishing near the creek? I looked for Absecon Bay Sportsman Center but could not find it. Is it in the marina there? Good luck tomorrow guys, I'll be back out next week.

I usually pray as I get through the narrow channel. I've caught fish where the permanent markers begin. If you go to Absecon Bay's site click on the 'fishing hot spots'. It shows a nice marked chart for you to see the layout. The store is a few blocks before you turn onto Faunce Landing Rd. on your right as you head N. on Rte. 9. Dave's a good guy and gives some good advice dujour.

Guys,

Was out there today. Cedar poles are missing for the last half of the channel. Be careful, if you get out of the channel, you will be on the mud. Here are some coordinates that should get you from the last set of visible cedar poles to the red/green cans.
39 25.113N 074 28.715W
39 24.735N 074 28.289W
39 24.490N 074.27.988W
39 24.427N 074.27.844W

Use at your own risk. buy these numbers have put me in the middle of the channel every time.

Good luck tomorrow. The water temp has dropped from 64 last Tuesday to 55 today. Lots of snotgrass and bluefish, but not much flounder. Should change when the water temp comes up a bit. The rain really cooled things off.

Will do Insanity, we will be at Daves around 6 am.

Sorry to hear you had troubles getting through there Bay Rat, you should have tried it before they dreged it   It was real bad then but it gets 1 foot or less outside the stakes and mud at low tide. If it makes you feel any better I hit a sandbar down Indian River bay on my first trip out in the new boat, channels down there are real tricky.

Thanks for the coordinates Shadow12, I have them as well for about every 25 yds coming out of the creek but my boats in the shop so thanks for the help. That stinks about the water temps and grass, cant think of anything worse to shut down the bite, guess we'll be targeting blues now :D :D Thanks for the report.

Not sure when/if the stakes are going in this year. Maybe Capt Dave from Absecon Bay can give us an update.

Decided to switch plans on Sunday morning and try the Del Bay for flounder (see my report in Del Bay forum). Sorry I missed you Insanity but hope to make a trip on Memorial Day. Hopefully by then the grass will be gone and the flounder will be hitting

Any Absecon reports from Sunday?

Still no stakes, but if these flood tides keep up it won't mater. From what I understand our present governer is making things so tough for all aspects of the DEP that the marking crew is still north and have run out of cedar stakes so they have to go to bamboo.

I've given up screaming because they won't get the stakes in until they do so on state worker time no matter how loud. Lets get things fixed at the polls.

I sure know it sucks, but there aren't many buisnesses in the fishing industry that aren't getting screwed somehow. At least the channel has been dredged and if you pick your way out at low tide and have a GPS you can come back on your trail. I don't have a surefire mark, but at dead low you should be able to pick out the deep water. At dead high you can run anywhere.

Hopefully things will get fixed soon until then be careful but there are fish available when the weather gives us a break.
