My youngest boy and I finished the install of an Eagle Fishmark 480 by Lowrance, with the kayak in the living room (the wife loves me right now). We sparked it up just to see if it would light up and we were delighted to get a solid read of the objects in the basement playroom below us. 18 inches of solid floor, then 18 inches of drop ceiling (isntalled by me), then the room with stationary furniture (and another kid watching TV down there) and then the basement cement slab. Unbelievable. I can only imagine how good this will look on WATER.

I have 2 teenage girls and never thought to use a fishfinder to spy on my kids. :D

You'll like that model. I had that one on my Hobie last year until I forgot and left in on the yak on my way home. Does not travel 300 miles very well.

Hey that might work! Although if I had teenage girls, I might prefer NOT to know what they are doing. Thank God I had boys.

If you had this same FF, then I would like to ask you - what did you do with the battery? How did you lash it somewhere securely? At the moment, I have it lying in a drybag, but would prefer it to STAY PUT somewhere.

For my fishfinders I have always used a small Cabelas Rechargeable 12 volt battery that I attached to my milkcrate in the back. I use a milkcrate on all my kayaks. I found a Rubbermaid container that it fits in and keeps it waterproof. The power cable runs loose along the side of my seat and attaches to the FF. I use to put the battery in one of the hatches and kept it inside of the kayak but it always slide all over.
