I did some of that gigging in South Carolina, its a social/beer drinking event. Work the shallows on low tide on a full moon. There is alot of light and the tides are running the hardest so low tide is real low and well if you get stuck due to the low tide you spend all night waiting for the tide to come in and drink beer.

We knew a man in fla.the Gulf side who gigged flounder commerically,couple hundred pounds a night was the norm.When the flounder were thick they said they looked like potatoe chips on the bottom.Down there people aren't crazy about flounder like up here.
