GABT 2010

23rd Annual
Greater Atlantic Bluefish Tournament

The GABT Committee, in conjunction with the GABT Foundation, have set Saturday, June 5th, 2010; as the date for their 23rd annual Greater Atlantic Bluefish Tournament. This is one of the longest continually running tournaments on the east coast. The tournament, which was founded in 1988 as a fund-raiser for the fight against cancer, has been growing larger and more successful each year. This year’s event is shaping up to be the best ever, with many new sponsors and contest entries. This year the GABT has gone all out to offer an even larger and more successful tournament than ever before, and for the first time, will be incorporating a fluke division for those contestants wishing to remain inshore or in the bays.

Up to $10,000 in cash prizes are awarded (based on a 75 boat entry). Prizes are awarded based on the three heaviest bluefish totals on each boat (1st through 10th place), the single heaviest fish at each port, and the single heaviest bluefis of the tournament. The entry fee is $250 per boat, which includes a free tournament tee shirt for the captain, and two free tickets to the awards banquet on Sunday evening, June 8th. Additional shirts and tickets may be purchased for a nominal fee. Those who have fished the tournament in previous years know that it is very worthwhile attending the banquet just for the good fellowship, and many valuable door prizes that are awarded. Last year, in addition to the cash prizes awarded, over $5,000.00 in sponsor-donated door prizes were given away and the tournament raised over $48,000.00 to assist in the fight against cancer.

In addition to the usual weigh-in station at Atlantic City, the Great Egg box check and weigh-in station will be located this year at Seaview Harbor Marina in Longport, for those entries that will be fishing out of that inlet. A third weigh-in station will again be located at Sheltered Cove Marina in Tuckerton, for the convenience of those boats fishing out of Little Egg inlet.

For the convenience of contestants from distant ports, transient berthing may be arranged at the State Marina at Trump’s Castle, in Atlantic City, directly across the basin from the Atlantic City weigh-in station at Kammerman’s Marine.

Entry forms and sponsorship forms may be obtained from the Greater Atlantic Bluefish Tournament, P.O. Box 1633, Absecon New Jersey 08201, call (609) 646-5495 for additional information, or visit the GABT web site at: All checks should be made payable to the Greater Atlantic Bluefish Tournament.

The members of the GABT Tournament Committee, along with the GABT Foundation Board Members, are dedicated to the cause of helping your neighbors fight the effects of cancer. This is done through education, financial aid, and service to cancer patients and their families. With the help of the dedicated volunteers of the GABT, and those who support these events and efforts, we can all make a difference in the fight against cancer to those in need. This year, get out and spend a great day on the water with family and friends, and fish for a cause.

The Greater Atlantic Bluefish Tournament is a non-profit, 501.C. 3 tax-deductible charity. New sponsorships, which are the lifeblood of this organization, are always welcome, and are fully tax deductible. If you, or your company, would be interested in becoming a sponsor of the GABT, please call the foundation at (609) 646-5495.
