--------------------------------------------------

I did the LBI Surf Thing over the weekend putting
in about a dozen hours plugging and baitfishing..
I worked the Sunset and Sunrise period and also
the In-Coming and Out-Going tides..Had winds
from the SE and NW,water temps were in the upper
60's one day and the low 60's the next...Water
Clarity was Clear...I used Clams & Bunker, I
Threw Darters and Poppers & Metal..So I Had Things
Covered but not too many fish co-operated....
A Few Small Blues,Croaker & SandSharks for me.
I did see a few larger Bluefish (3-6lbs)taken
and maybe a Bass or two a little larger..
But That Was It,, Will Give It A Try Again
Later This Week....

Everyone Have A Great Week......

Fished Cape May County back bay Sun. w/ only a few small blues and a couple of 14" Stripers.
Monday I hit the NWW surf and the back bay with only a flounder on a Storm in the surf and more blues and really small stripers in the bay.
Tough fishing.

Ventured out behind WWC from Shawcrest to $1 bridge. Took 10 short stripers and a load of small blues under the bridge. Stripers on poppers and plugs along sod banks. Lots of bait fish from the channel to Pier 47...took one short back there. Fished end of incoming and an hour of outgoing. Lots of action around the bridge and commercial boats...mostly small blues.

Just a little info from S. Del. for my N.J. bassin' friends. Fished Indian River inlet late Sat. afternoon into early evening. Loads of small blues everywhere but if you could get your baits below them there were bass waiting. Took out 2doz. live spot and 1 doz. live mullet for bait but ran out of bait in about 4 hours. Boated 8 bass and 10 blues. Only 1 keeper bass (30") but 3 that went 27". Saw other guys throwing eels without much success. Live spot were the ticket. Lots of bird action just outside the inlet but all I caught there was blues. Boat traffic inside from the bridge to the Coast Guard station was horrendous but died down towards dark. I left with the fish still biting , but I ran out of bait.It was a good day.

Spent Saturday, Sunday and Monday in beautiful Strathmere. Weather was great and you can still swim since the water temps are in the upper sixties. Plenty of mullet around so my son and I netted them and tossed them back out on hooks - no stripers anywhere on the front beach, though we did only fish during the day. We had bluefish action thru most days, lots of sea robins and the occasional skate. Smaller circle hooks(1/0, 1, 2) were the key to hooking up all day. If one thing has been true on Strathmere beach this whole year, it is the poor striper fishing in the surf. We did net two baby pompano and a baby flounder. All and all, it was one of the nicest beach weekends we have had all year and is probably the last for the family until next Spring - sad to see it go but also looking forward to some great fishing coming to a beach near you soon. Anyone seeing the back picking up or evidence of migratory striped critters moving in?

Bill,
A couple of my friends fished a good bit behind
Corson's over the weekend.
Everything was real small, tiny snappers and
baby Bass 10-12 inches long....Nothing of
any size yet.......
Best Action has been on the beach so far in
the area.....

My one buddy Greg got a 27 1/2" Bass on plug
on the OC Front,it flew 3feet into the air
out of one of the huge waves Sunday afternoon
after that lure...

Went out Sun. night...fished the Atlantic county area..Started the night drifting eels outgoing tide and before ya know it my buddy was hooked up...Ahhh i thought nice to hear PP ripping off his reel:)..We landed the our first decent striper at 36" and he was a fatty...Had a sea lice on back so i assume he moved in from ocean..Than tide started moving and tried another location and came up empty..Than tied slowed down and had non stop action under blue fish on zooms...4 slot size bass and ten weakies..Also dropped a few fish near surface..All and all plenty of action and am looking forward to more of it...Later Pazman

FishingNJ4ever... were you out front or in the back? I was hoping on making it down yesterday, but once again "family considerations" (as the wife puts it!) prevented me.

Sorry for the late report. i was away. Chunked G.E. inlet fri. night. One bass,35". It had a tag. Highlands littoral. The tag had some heavy growth on it. I'll let you know the details of it when I find out.
After chunkin we switched over to weakies. Loaded up, just about every cast. Blues don't seem as thick. yeeeehaaa.

I think all the fish I caught & released in the Spring told the fish in the Fall what lures to look out for 'cause I got skunked again tonight...

Fished OC area... top of outgoing... good moving current, normal water... managed just 1 small hit..

So how long after cold front until they start bitin'...?

Dad and I got out today and tossed lures and jigs for 2.5 hours. Ended up with a nice blue and a fat Speckled trout. Speck was TASTEY - nothing beats fresh caught fish for dinner :D . Now we just need some Stripers to go with it.

Fished OC area last night. Just after dark-outgoing. Nothing out front in several locations.
Finally got one keeper in the back- Pink Fin-S - Some good size fish were busting- they didn't want any plugs, teasers, metal, bucks or Zooms I offered. Fin -S was tapped many times and not bitten off. Not sure what was hitting it.

How do you like this beauty! 3lb 1oz! Caught on a little silver spoon in Atlantic County!

I'll put in the Sweetwater Forum also! Oppps! We don't have a Sweetwater Forum! I guess it will have to go in the Sweetwater Thread!

Back out again last night at the high tide behind WWC to the bridge. Drifted a few eels..no action. Took a couple of spike blues at the Flika..bait poppin all over the place for a while. Threw some poppers and rattlers at the banks on the way in and took one 20" striper. Winds were kickin.
