our Surrounding South Jersey Inlets,BackBays & Bridges....

-------------------------------------------------

Opening Day,, Are You Serious ?? Looking out
the Window It Seems Like- NOT !!,But As I Type
This The Snow has Changed to RAIN down here at
the Jersey Shore.. Maybe Just Maybe Its A Good
Sign That A Spring Warm-Up is on the Way....
Right Now Both Backbay and Surf Water Temps are
Running in the Upper 30's to around 40 degree's.
Not Too Bad, In Fact With A Mostly Mild and Snow
Free Winter Down Here I Am Sure It Will Not Take
Too Much To Get Our Resident Striped Bass on the
Feed...I am sure a few HareCore Fishermen will
be Checking Out GP and some local bridges over
the next few days and I can't wait to hear what
they have to report...Any news is good news this
time of the year as we head into another Fishing
Season along the Jersey Coast...
A few things to remember ----
Regulations: 1 Fish between 24"-28"
1 Fish 34"+
NO BONUS PROGRAM FISH
Those Cards From Last Year - Throw Them Out
They Are Useless....
----------------------------------------------
I am looking forward to another great year of
fishing for Stripers,Weakfish and Bluefish...
And I Hope You Are As Well..And I Plan on
Sharing My Experiences Right Here.. So Stay
Tuned To My Reports and I Hope To Hear From
Every Member Here As Well About Your Fishing
Adventures...

Thanks,,,,

Well, this is not a post from Jersey waters (sorry) but i did drop a line off the docks in Castine the other day after coming back into town. The only rod i had with me was a ice fishing pole and an little jig, but I managed to catch some type of ugly toadfish and lost a little harbor pollack on top. Spring break is coming up next week and I cant wait to get the boat in the water and maybe hook into a really early striper. Best of luck to all those who fish the back this year!

well guys i did manage to fish for about 6 hours today,at various spots in south jersey, the tide was extremely high and the water was murky in some spots, but amazingly clean in other spots, i did manage to catch one herring, and lost another behind avalon, it was kind of hard to get out of the wind, the water temps were around 40 degrees, the last time i was down i found 42 degrees in some areas, so i guess the snow had an effect on the temp, it just felt good to be using my big rod, and targeting stripers, it wont be long, i'm confident the stripers, will become active in the next week to 10 days, probabably around the new moon next week!

I was out for 2 hours today. I caught nothing but I thought I had one or two hits. It could have been perch. The new St Croix casts like a dream. I'll be out to try it again on Friday.

Yak attacked with a buddy today in ocean county.
I got 15 bass from 16-24"
My buddy got 7 bass.
My AMAZING catch was a 3.10lb speckled trout. nice way to start, but I missed as many as I got. Just shaking the rust.
