I continue to hit the Central New Jersey Beaches
to gain valueable information and contacts for
my quest for a Large this Year off the Beach....
Each Time Out I Learn Something New about these
area's... Thanks....

Sunrise on LBI......
The Morning Started Slow,I did Pick Up My First
SeaRobin of The Year on Clam...Then Not Too Long
After During the In-Coming Tide I had a really
good KnockDown on BunkerHead,I quickly lowered
the Rod Tip and Release the Bail, hoping it would
come back and take the bait. But To No Avail.....
Nothing After That as the Sun Rose and it Got Hot.
I stuck out the tide and picked up a few KingFish
on my little rod...No Fluke were around but I did
get a report of the Night Earlier some Keepers
and Blowfish were caught on Jigged Fin-S-Fish that
matched the Spearing that was in the wash....

Everyone Have A Great Day,, Later.....

I was playing music for the Venice Festival in OC. When I was done- I went to the beach for sunset and caught a few short flounder on jigs.
It was kind of neat. I never fish in daylight during the summer on the beach- especially during such a crowded weekend.

Took the yak out this weekend behind Stone Harbor.
Friday sunset- 3 Stripes to 24" and a blue. Missed about 7 more- all on poppers. Got dark, fish shut down.
Saturday morning- paddled in the back of SH and saw about 15 Stripers swimming. Didn't even try to catch them. Was just out for a paddle. Saw a school of 8 stripers and about 8 others to about 30". It was pretty cool. You can really sneak up on them in a kayak.
Saturday sunset- took my girl out on my 2 person yak and got her her 4th, 5th and 6th stripers ever. All were between 18-22". She missed about 4 more, one being pretty big. Also on poppers. Came in when it got dark.
Sunday sunset- got out and fished for an hour with 2 swirls, but no fish. First trip in a long time I have not caught fish. I'm guessing it was the weather. Someone also mentioned that the worm hatch is on, which could have caused the lack of interest in my popper.
Saw the largest group of birds working about 200 yards off of the surf on Friday around 6:00pm. The school of bait must have been 1/2 mile long and 1/4 mile wide with about 1,000 birds diving in the water. I was surfing, so I didn't get a chance to fish. It was pretty awesome. The bait is HERE!!!!!!!!!!!

I can confirm Fly fish's report of his success in the yak. Brent, glad to hear you say the bait is here. I had no success on the surf at dusk with clams. I can't wait for the bait in the surf.
I do miss my Stone Harbor jetties though...

Nice pics Strikes. They look of good size

Out tonight, good action.

Spikes and blues, no stripers. Purple bomber and pink worm

Steve, in one of the other posts you mention a STORM lure you use around the sods in the Fall. Does STORM make a surface plug or are you using the weighted kind?/

Thanks in Adavance

That's for sure. I was also out surfing last
night in SIC when a pretty large school of bunker
passed by. I didn't see any fish on them though.
Still cool to see! There was also a porpoise
that flipped completely out of the water several
times. I've never seen them jump like that.

Fished behind OC last night, and was in the middle of a cinder worm hatch. There were trillions of 'em in the water. I landed 3 bass in 4 hrs of casting frustration. Does anybody really know how to entice bass to bite in the middle of one of these hatches?

Sebastian,
Next to Impossible based on what I have seen
over the years...When They Are On Them,They
Are On Just Them.
I stood and watched a 40"+ Bass One Night
Under the Lights for over a hour just sitting
on top slurpping those things in.. I throw
everthing in the book at it,to No Avail...

Thanks again Steve, you have mail

Go get'em E-BALL, I have been there.

Blood worms work for picky bass on cinder worms if you feel like emptying your bank account and going through the trouble

Fished the surf in OC Sunday before sunrise, fresh clam, good conditions, no hits at all. Large schools of adult bunker just outside of casting distance. Has anyone had any luck livelining bunker off the beaches in South Jersey during the summer?

Croakers?
Last night I was fishing a local South Jersey bridge and found a few bass and a ton of croakers.
There were hoards of them and all were of decent size, 12-18 inches. I ended up keeping about 25 for the night. They were hitting pink zooms but as thick as they were I would have to believe they would eat anything in front of them.
Anyone else ever run into large croaker schools in the back waters? Surprised they took to plastics so well, especially 5 inch pink zooms.
Definitely a first for me, they made for an action packed night anyway.

I had some luck during the worm hatch using a 1/4 oz or 1/8 oz white BT with the hair trimmed to about 1 inch and tipped with a 4 inch thin red rubber worm.

eelball your such a man, I wasn't near your baits or near you. I didn't see your name on the whole bridge. I gave your baits alot of clearence. Maybe you mistaked me for the other 2 boats out there. If not. Then if I was fishing your bridge then sorry next time I'll pay a toll. As for your choice of words, You must be very intelligent.
