Baby Weakfish, tons of them around the last 2 years! Let's hope they all don't get eaten!
You got it Frank,
Fingerling Weakfish

Check out the fangs on them.

Now about them getting eaten....

We were out in our kayak the other night and sitting ontop of thousands of these baby weakfish. The schools were swimming right by us.
You could see the fish coming up from below and
mowing them down.It was pure cannibalism at its best because it was weakfish busting on them..

When out Friday night behind OC along one of the bridges, and fish were jumping out of the water all over the place. Caught four Blue Fish and two small bass, and had four others on that got off. Everything was on a plug that looked like a spearing. That is what they were feeding on. Talked to a boater that put in and he stated that they caught 19 Bass Thursday night to 28" using plastic.
What is a weakfish , just kidding .
I defy anyone to say they've lipped a smaller fish than that. :D
Do you thunk that these are the young that were spawned this past spring in the back? If so, that's pretty harsh, snacking on the youngens like that!
I'm surprised there were no Bass feeding on them too!

Keeper Seeker,
Yes, I beleive they are...,but the ones doing the eating would have to be I say one to two year old trout that make this area there summer home each year...
Went out for a couple hours last night with
Casting Disaster behind O.C. We started out
fluke fishing and caught some shorts. As the
sun went down we made the switch to stripers, but
only got one 23". The water was in the mid 70's.

nice night...lots of jet skis though.
went out last night not a bite. Strange after such a good week of fishing.

Good to know it wasn't just me. I hadn't been
out in almost 2 weeks. I'm guessing it had
something to do with the water temps.?
I'm still in Vermont but my buddy called this morning and he had good news ,, fishing in O.C. area last nite he landed a nice 32 inch wekies ,, weighed in over 10 #
Nightstrikes,
Don't worry they were back to feeding on spearing tonight. Lots of herring around too.
Hey Nightstrikes-- Lots of those small weakies down here in the Delaware backbays right now too. Was out cast netting some mullet and spot under the lights in the marina Sat. night and had quite a few of them as well as loads of small drum. Had to be careful to get them back in the water alive but some were so small they gilled themselves. Really hate when that happens.

I believe I saw a picture of it at a Somers Point tackle shop...awesome fish. I am assuming it's the same one...not many 10 lbers. caught recently.
Taken tonight on a live Oak Hill jumbo shrimp
