I had both done at the same time. It has helped me tremendously! I highly recommend you get it done endoscopically. My recovery time was less than 5 weeks. I did have some tenderness and soreness in my palms for a few weeks after that but it has been well worth it. My hands were so bad I could not sleep at night. They would fall asleep up to my shoulders. Get it done it will help. It has been close to six years and I am still totally fine.

BB, I know it might sounds strange but before going under the knife you should give a good chiropractor a try. I am one and have helped many people with carpal tunnel syndrome, saving many form having the surgery. Wherever you are I can find a highly qualified chiropractor in your area if you're interested in finding out more. The only reason I'm saying anything is because I've seen it work with my own eyes. I've worked on countless casino dealers that have CTS and most do very well with pain management and reduction in numbness.....

Hey barners, thanks for the tips, get it! Seriously, thanks. You've been very helpful. My test show I have a lot of damage to both hands, so I'm going to get the surgery so I could continue fishing. thanks again!

BB,
My brother is a steel mill worker and a taxidermist. He had the surgery on his right hand after he could not close his hand anymore, woke up at night in tearful pain and barely could fish anymore.

It has been a longer recovery than normal, but he is in the steel mill, still doing his taxidermy, sleeping through the night (sans the snoring wife) and on his only trip out in the DB, he caught more stripers in one trip than I caught all season.

He said there is still some tingling and is not back to normal, but it is functional

I'm going nuts now. I had shoulder surgury on my AC joint two weeks ago. Up till now my arm has been in a sling and I'm not supposed to do anything with it. I go back to the doc today for my two week follow up. Hopefully I can start moving it.

I had work done on my reeling arm, so it doesn't put too much stress on the shoulder. Hopefully I can start heading out next week.

Sweet Release,
My dad is in surgery as i type this on his right elbow. It's bothered him for a couple years, and progressivly got worse. He tried a lot of different options, and after having trouble this year fishing, he decided to get the sugery. He's at Temple now, so i'll let you know how he makes out with it.

My shoulder started acting up a few years ago. There was always a click, crunching sound in there, bujt no pain. About two years ago, I noticed a big crack everytime I did a benchpress. And that was with light weight, 100lbs. After a few months I couldn't do them any more because of the pain. I tried to do a pushup instead and found I couldn't even do one. Anything that involved lifting my arm from the shoulder would cause a click and pain.

Last spring I had an xray and mri done. It showed that I had bone spurs on the top part of my shoulder(ac joint). We did cortisone shots and therapy, but the root problem is rough bones. I decided to go thru the summer and do it now.

Yesterday I went back for my two week follow up. I'll be doing a month of therapy, but can start moving my arm unless it causes pain. I'm still limited to lifting 10 pounds in that arm.

I"M GOING FISHING NEXT WEEK!!!!!! I'll make sure I put no pressure on my bad arm. I won't do any bridge fishing since pulling them up with a net is alot of work. I can use the time to learn sodbanks and the beach.
