Hey guys! With all the talk of a federal moratorium, are we all voicing our displeasure to our local legislators??? If you haven't yet, it is time to get on the horn and call, e-mail, fax, and write to them to get off their duffs when they get back to work and vote on the regulations! We all know that we need to have a striped bass season, we need to let them know that we need it! Let's get on it! Here is a sample letter I have sent to all three district 1 legislators(Asselta, Gibson, and Van Drew). Senator Connors comment of no fishermen calling has me fired up, because that is B.S.!!!!

Dear Assemblyman Van Drew,
I am sending this letter in regards to my displeasure with the apathy expressed by our New Jersey legislators in their voting on the striped bass regulations for the 2005 season. Their actions have resulted in a potential federal moratorium on striped bass fishing for the fall, 2004 season. As a charter captain in Cape May, New Jersey, I can assure you that this would be devastating to myself and many other businesses, which depend on the exceptional striped bass fishing seen in our area. Other charter and party boats, as well as bait shops, marinas, and countless other businesses will be directly affected if this closure is put in place. I urge you to prioritize bill S1691 as soon as you return to office. My vote and the votes of countless other recreational anglers in the state of New Jersey depend on it.
Best Regards,
