had some time off so took my 4 year old son out for some fluke in the somers point area.what started out as lets just say "bad" got real good at the end.got to the ramp and dropped the boat in.after making sure we had everything ,off we go only to find out that there is no water at the end of the ramp.i mean "no"water maybe 4 inches.so after an hour of waiting in a stuck boat with a 4 year old
we set off.get to our spot and fish on,small fluke.three drifts later and no fish,so off to sleep goes my son
well i then put a pink gulp jerk bait on a jig head and headed to the bridge for some weak fish action, as my son snoors away . i made three cast and got three fluke
two of which were keepers.then it happen on my forth cast bam fish on ,but did not feel like a fluke.after some drag being takin and my rod tip hitting the water a few times i see something.it's a fluke only a little bigger then the others like 34 inches bigger
this fish was big .so hear i am ,big fluke on line in one hand, net in the other, the bridge getting closer and my son sound asleep on the floor of the boat
well after some "work" i did get the fish in the boat.my yells of "yes, yes, yes"failed to wake my son but not the other boaters, so after tring to get around all the boats that happen to find their way to me i called it a day.had plenty of water at the ramp now
put the boat on and went over to the bait shop.the fish was 34 inches ,but only was 9lbs
i thought for sure it was over 10lbs.oh well guess i'll have to wait a little longer for that 10lber
it really was a great day with the weather and the fish and my son"the times when he was awake"anyway!so those who had lost hope that the big fish have all went out to the reef, there are some still in the back bays, good fishing ,matt
