I just replaced my water heater with the tankless heater that Margaritaville put us onto a few weeks ago. I removed a perfectly good Bradford/White 40 gallon LPG/PROPANE unit that is about 6 years ???? old.
I can't see putting it out for the trash. It probably has a few years left in it. It is free for the taking. You pick it up this week in Atco NJ.
By the way,....the new tankless heater works great!
