New Garmin Echomap Plus 74CV + Transducer.
2001 21 SeaHunt Victory W/A Cuddy. Johnson 150

Installed unit as per Garmin Instructions. Would not read bottom over 10 MPH.
Moved transducer down +/- 3/8" all that I could without pulling boat and moving mount.
Moving the unit lower improved readings but still will continually loose bottom and reading will flash.
I can be cruising thru calm waters with a good reading then it's gone.
Thought I'd throw this out to the Barn for any ideas.
Original install had the transducer in line with the bottom of the hull.
Reading improved when I lowered the transducer 3/8" or so lower.
Has anyone installed their transducer well below the hull line?
Thanks

Not sure if you are aware but sounds like you might be near one of the Strakes that may create air bubbles or still not down far enough i'll put up a video JIK your not sure and not trying to insult your intelligence

Thanks for that Wired. No intelligence here so none taken.
Garmin support told me to lower the unit a bit and to angle the ducer a bit forward.
They also said that most units won't read well at speeds over 17-20 knots.
My older Garmin was better at bottoms.
We'll see.
Have to pull it to make changes.
Got a flat at the ramp when I pulled it for the install.
Need to do some PM on the trailer, no doubt.
Thanks Again

I was able to angle the transducer down about 1/2 " which now has the sonar pointing slightly forward.
Works like a charm.
The larger screen is great.

I am having the same problem with my Garmin 94SV unit on a 23 World Cat boat
When you say that you have the transducer angling slightly forward, did you lower the rear end of the transducer or the forward end ?
Thanks
