Checked the Gear Lube Reservior a couple of weeks ago on my 5.7L mercruiser and it was down 2 oz. Check again this weekend after 2 runs with the boat and it was down 1 oz. Is this a serious problem? Any idea if this could be covered under warranty?

gravity feed....

that resevoir gravity feeds the drive unit-if the oil level in the drive goes down, the oil level in it goes down...
if you just put the boat into service-there could've been a small amount of air in the drive-this occurs when the drive is removed for anual service and the gear oil is changed-the level in the resevoir can and will go down after a small amount of time.....if that's not the case, there's a leak in the drive unit...most common area for a leak is the shift shaft seal-based upon my experience...on the newer alpha genII drives,i've ran into a few with issues in the lower drive shaft seal carrier-it's under the water pump...if i were you,i would have it checked out, before it turns into a bigger problem....
