Well the weather was perfect and the fishing was fun. Was going for the Florida Slam, and I got it...well kinda, in two days instead of all in one. Anyway, overall I had a blast catching about a dozen snook to 24", two nice reds including this 25" keeper, two keeper specks, 2 jacks and a spanish mackeral. Saw a lot of reds in the flats but getting them to bite was another story. Lost a huge snook around some concrete stucture that smoked my drag before I could even react. All fish were my first of each species in Florida and caught on live shiners in the Palmetto/Bradenton area.

Nice going!!! Live shiners? What type of fish are they? I've used pinfish, mullet, mojarra, blue runners, crab, shrimp, squirelfish, grunts and ladyfish down there for bait but I never heard of shiners. Are they silversides?
