I am thinking about buying a kayak for fishing...What is a good model for someone just starting out that is not rich? Should I look for something used or just buy one from dicks?

You want to research a Hobie with Mirage drive. It allows you paddle hands free allowing your hands to fish. They are more efficient which leaves you with more energy to fish. You can hold yourself in current while casting allowing you to catch more fish. Fish,fish,fish...Get the picture....

If you dont have much money then you wont be able to afford a Hobie. There are a lot of kayak brands out there but you shouldnt buy one without a test ride. You may get lucky or you may hate your purchase if you dont test ride first. I dont know what your budget is but many kayaks are sold used now as guys move up into the Hobies.

Thats plenty of $ to get a nice brand new paddle kayak or a used Hobie. Wait till spring and do demos and youl find one you like in your pricerange.
