The way the weather forecast looks I think the D may be a washout this weekend. Sunday's the day I can fish so I was thinking about maybe donning my foul weather gear & hitting graveling point. I've never been there before & was checking out Scott's Bait & tackle website & saw there's a creek you ned to cross. Is this feeder creek passable after large amounts of rain? Anything els about this place I should know, tips, warnings, sugestionjs ect. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks

Hip boots are recommended, waders are even better. If you don't have those I suggest you try peeble beach, not nearly as wet to access. Good luck and have a good time. If the weather is good tomorrow I might be heading down for a few hours. If I go I'll give a report.

Crossing that creek at high tide with rain you will need waders.
Also, take a trash bag with you... people leave that place a mess! At or near the "point" watch for some snags other than ear plugs for when the rowdie crowd shows up, bloods are the bait of choice...

mch, another .02, rain = no issue as to the creek but tides could get you wet. Just follow the natural curve of the beach when crossing, opposed to the narrowist span of water ;) . You want to fish close to the low outgoing (warmer water) at any rate & shall see the "whats" of the creek. Bloods (as mericanwit mentioned) ARE the bait of choice. Luck to ya

.... and be careful as you cross the point! If you walk across and cut it too short you will walk thru a weedy area... if you do, get ready to sink in the muck up to your chest!

There were many times I fished there where the waders were not even close to mandatory on the way out... barely a flow at all in the creek... on the way back in, we had to walk 20' out from the beach to walk on the little bar cause the creek was just too deep and running too fast to cross... watch for the guys that look like they know the area... then follow them if they don't take a swim!

the keepers that were caught this week wre in dead low and at the top of the tide. take your choice. as you get to the creek if at hidh tide at the top edge you can see the narrow sand bar that curves to the point. i have never seen it reach my chest at high tide and i am 5-10".

Also, 3 guys fishing 50 yards from the point, going up the mullica caught 4 fish. Didn't get to see what the sizes where. Thanks, there is a pic of the fish on Scottsbt.com. Click on fish pic of day for 4/1.

I got there after you caught your fish. Now that I can put a name with a face I kind of have to laugh. I pictured you as this old grizzly looking guy. Nice fish by the way.

kayakjim,

You could launch from the end of radio road, but I wouldn't recommend it unless it's a calm day. The W... really keeps up this time of year and gets really choppy. Also, look out because from the end of radio road to GP there are people fishing the whole area.

I guess you could kayak the area if you went left off the beach towards the creek entrance of great bay marina.
