Captains Dennis and David are both Returned Peace Corp Volunteers formerly based in Guatemala. Dennis Wheeler served from 1965 to 1966 and David Showell served from 1977 to 1979. While Dennis and his wife Luisa have lived in Antigua, Guatemala ever since. David married his wife Judy in Guatemala, but they returned to his home in Southern New Jersey where he has been a leader in the New Jersey Sport Fishing industry for over twenty five years. From these roots both have been deeply embedded in Guatemala and have a similar desire to bring more economical fishing trips to those who would like to experience the undisputed “Worlds Best Pacific Sailfishing”.
While striving to stay within the average angler’s budget “La Tijereta” will offer a safe, quality fishing experience. David and Dennis will showcase the latest in tackle and electronics that will be of use to anglers in Central America, in the United States and around the world. Complete Guatemalan fishing and vacation packages including tours of traditional Guatemalan tourist attractions such as Antigua, the Mayan Highlands and the Ruins of Tikal will also be offered using established Guatemalan Infrastructure.
A web site www.fishguatemala.com has been posted on line. Though in the infant stages, this site is already a portal to all of Guatemala’s fishing and tourism possibilities. As it continues to grow it will be open to all wishing to provide information and services related to this industry.
