Press Release

(Seaville, NJ) ? Bauer?s Fishing Preserve will host ?A Day For Jay? Fishing Memorial on Saturday, April 17th, between 8:00 AM- 4:00 PM, rain or shine, at its Seaville location on Route 9. Fees will be: $12 for adults over 12 years of age and $6 under 12 years of age.

Son of Kathy Bauer and stepson of Joe Bauer, James Allen Hamby, known affectionately as ?Jay? to family and friends, was killed on September 3rd, 2003 by the actions of a drunk driver. At 21 years of age, Jay was a hardworking construction worker, homeowner, and an enlistee of the Army National Guard who enjoyed spending his free time fishing at the pond, especially with his nieces and nephew

?To know Jay was to love him. He had a zest for life, family and friends that was inspiring? relates the Bauers, ?and he is terribly missed by all of us. The ?Day For Jay? is a celebration of his life and his memory.?

This event promises to be a great day of fishing. Several hundred trout to 7 pounds will be stocked in the 2-½ -acre pond, and the first 100 adult anglers to register will receive a free pony spool of Berkley Trilene line. In excess of $3,000 worth of door prizes and raffle prizes will be awarded. These include reels, rods, rod-and-reel combos, lines and lures by such manufacturers as Abu Garcia, Mitchell, Berkley, Yo-Zuri, Fenwick, Silver Reef, Stren, Mr. Twister and Mepps. Those lucky anglers catching the three specially tagged trout will win fishing trips with Captain Al Crudele of Bayhound Charters of Sea Isle City. Additional prizes include gift certificates to area restaurants and tackle shops.

Anglers are reminded that besides trout, Bauer?s Preserve boasts trophy hybrid stripers, largemouth bass and channel catfish. Big bluegills and crappies are also in the pond.

No license is required to fish at Bauer?s Preserve. All largemouth bass and hybrid stripers must be released; however, the trout, channel catfish and panfish can be purchased at market prices.

Food and refreshments will be on site. Rod rentals and bait will be available.

Portions of the proceeds will be donated to Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, Students Against Drunk Drivers, Compassionate Friends of Cape May County, and Basis.
