I'm going to Wildwood for the week and was offered a slip for the boat. The hull has never been bottom painted with anti-foulant and I won't have time to do it before I leave.
I expect to put and hour or two of running time every day. Can anyone give me a good estimate how long before I get the hard to scrub off bottom growth?

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Seems to me it was about 3 weeks before it got nasty. I think anything in a week will come off easily with a pressure wash. You may however get a discoloration that could be difficult to get off. All this is a best guess from a couple years ago when I had an unpainted hull...i.e don't consider science, or fact. My recommendation is that if you are ultimately going to paint it, go for it. They often sit a boat in water to identify where to paint anyway. I think my last boat was in over 1 month. If you're not going to paint it you may want to try pier 47 in wildwood, they have a lift out marina and may be able to take you as a transient.

Thanks Sterling. I like that answer.

I remember scrapping marine growth off the bottom of an unpaint hull we had when I was a kid years ago. I don't remember how long it took for the tight growth to arrive but, I do remember scrubbing, scrapping and finally painting. What a mess!

The warmer the water the faster the growth. Even though the water is warm you should be fine for one week. If it makes you feel better take along a long handled scrubbing brush and go to a sand bar and scrub the bottom once in a while.

Wax it real goog, put it in, pull it out after a week, power wash in right away. No problem, I do it every 4th july week. May leave a yellow stain that will come off with a little scrubbing.
