Looks like we are finally getting a dose of winter down here in Central Florida. Cold front has been over us now for about 3 days and plans to stay a bit longer. North and NE winds churned up the offshore swells to 9-12 feet yesterday

Snookmaster and I launched before daybreak then made a good attempt to anchor up in the inlet, current just was too strong.

Not to be denied we headed South towards the lagoon. Stopped off at a bridge to try out luck for some Black Drum.

1 hour into it Snookmaster pulls in a 5 pound Sheepshead, a real hook-bender

He had the high hook all day but that was it for us as far as groceries go.

Snookmaster also caught 2 of the biggest Mother-In-LAw fish I have ever seen along with a fat cat :D

All I caught yesterday was an over-sized pinfish

We will be out later this week for a night trip and hopefully an offshore trip next weekend

Later

Just wondering, I'm not real familiar to Florida was there once. Is Indian River located north of Vero Beach. I was there about four years ago on my honeymoon and my wife and I checked out some fishing spots and I seem to recall that Indian River was located near Vero Beach. Was there a lot of damage from the hurricanes to the enviroment in that area? Just curious. Hope your having fun I'm waiting for spring up in Jersey.

Yes, it just West of Vero

The Indian River Stretches as far south as Stuart and as far North as Ponce Inlet which generally speaking is the cutoff between the HAlifax and Indian River

At Titusville the River crosses over via the Haulover canal and then heading North extends to Ponce Inlet as the Mosquito Lagoon / ICW

Don't forget the Banana River which is an extension of the Indian River around VERO !!

Did you get into the stripers yet?
Snookmaster took this one home, but he claims outside of the snook Sheepshead are the best groceries in the river. Seems to be like a colorful Tog

No stripes yet. I am wet-docked in salt, that's all I have been doing. Soon though

Coming down with Jack.
