Deanald seems like we are always battling the wind for at least some part of the day. Very few days where the wind is not a factor and even less days when it is in our favor. Look at it like this, we all as fisherman all have goals of becoming better fisherman through our experiences and certainly more consistent with our catch right?? Well the weather is just another challenge we must address along the way.
Jersey shore captains, was it always so windy
been loving the boat on the water now for the past 2 years but i must admit that it is a lot windier than i expected. Even days that say 3 to 5 mph winds end up to be 15 to 20. I thought it was the spring, then the summer was almost the same and the same for the fall last year and now this year has not changed much for me. Just wanted to ask you all if this is something new in the past couple years, maybe due to good old Gloria that they pretty much blame all weather occurrences on, or if this is just something that i need to get used to on the jersey shore.

Doesn't get much nicer then this weekend. Typical SW in the afternoon but that's normal on hot days.
Deanald, I'm with Bob ECT about the typical south winds in the PM right now around here. As far as the fall it all depends on how the jet stteam sets up. A few years back I think there was one decent weekend out of eight without a nor'easter.

The last few years the W*** has been brutal. I always try to fish the am because the W*** always picks up in the afternoon.
Not bad, 8 small BFT and 1 60lber. Pair of Bonita and loads of Blue's too. Back to the dock by 1pm to avoid most of the heat wind.

WE HAD TWO YEARS IN THE EARLY 90'S WITH XTRRA WIND AND THE LAST 3 1/2 TO 4 YEARS MORE THAN NORMAL AMOUNT OF CHARTERS CANCELLED.
Wait till October when the canyons are LOADED with big tuna. It will blow 30KTS the whole month.
BRIAN I CAN HANDLE THAT CAUSE WHEN WE GET TO MIDDLE LATE OCT.IT ONLY 50/50YOU'LL GO IN A NORMAL YEAR.I THINK IT WAS LAST YEAR OR THE YEAR BEFORE THE BUSINESS CHARTER IN VA. BEACH 0NLY MADE 3 TRIPS IN OCT. AND WAS BOOKED EVERY DAY.
So far this year has not been that bad. It was last year or the year before I had to cancel a number of trips.
