Some of you guys jig seabass offshore while their in season of course. When you fish the depths of 250, what size weight jig are you using for hammered diamond jigs. Is a 6 or 8oz ok in size or larger?

Thanks

Should be just fine, tipped with a strip bait is common as well.

6-8 oz is ideal. Anything bigger and they don't hit it as much. The key is using the rite tackle to get the small jig down. 20-30 lb braid.

Light set-up and 30# braid and an 8oz jig is great fun. Just about any jig will work. Based on the current and boat drift sometimes you can't do it and need to go heavier. On a party boat it is real hard to use an 8 oz jig.
