Would a 4-5hp be enough for a 22' Trophy? I'll just be using it to idle through shallow water and power drifts.

I was thinking about trying the 5hp four stroke I bought from you last year or my old 4hp Yam w/integral fuel tank.

If you already have them then I don't see what the harm in trying it out is. I agree with Dean that you want at least 6hp perferably a 9.9 but who knows maybe what you have will fool us.

What ever motor you decide to put on, be sure to put on a propeller for a non planing type application . This will usually be a larger diameter ,large blade area, low pitch designed for pushing heavy loads. Most small engines come with a generic prop which will have to big of a pitch for that application and cause the engine to lug or not turn enough rpms.
