I prefer the 5000's the buckles seems to stay on better than the laces,just my two cents.

I have the laces, if you are not walking a mile your fine. I bought them because I needed them the next day. The winds were thirty something out of the north east and the fish were there. Didn't have a choice had to go for it. Had no problems yet but got lazy and tried to put them on at the truck, had a mile walk and they fell off on the way down. Other than that on problem.:thumbsup:

When I wear the sandals I wear em with laces.I've seen the ones with buckles fail on guy's during play not good!!!!I currentlly wear a wadding boot with spikes in them and I like them the best!!!!!

they both work well. if you use the 5000 carry extra buckles in your tackle bag with you. i use the k5000 with my wading boots and wader pants. the k1100 with my sneakers or my nrs work boots. both work well both have pros and cons.
buy them both!!

the pros with the k5000 is that they are heavy duty and the spikes are easily changed (threaded)
cons are the buckles break every now and then.
pros with the k1100 they lace up and have alot of spikes.
cons: the spikes are a pain is the arse to replace.

The Korkers "Jetty Plus Fishing Cleat" K1100 (there are two models of the k1100) have more and better placed cleats than the 5000, plus they can be modified to become almost indestructable whereas the buckles cannot be modified as easily. If you use the screw in spike models, you better treat the threads with loctite to prevent the threads from rusting and seizing in place. If you're only fishing from safer flat jetties, I'm sure either would be a good choice. However, if you're fishing from some of the more dangerous jetties, one you need to climb and jump from rock to rock, there's no way I would trust the buckle versions.

And if you are losing a korker on the walk to the beach then use duct tape! I would be afraid to work my way out to the tip of a rockpile if I was losin korkers in the sand.

I have both the 5000 & 1100 plus. I started off several years ago with the k5000 buckle version, but got sick and tired of how heavy they were. I tend to walk a good distance to fish. Even if you are walking a little distance they are like bricks on your feet. I never had problems with them falling off or buckles breaking, but I found replacing the studs extremely difficult.
Last season I purchased the k1100 laces. I immediately threw away the laces and purchased several pairs of extra long hockey laces which I wrap around my ankle before tightening them up and this works amazing. They are very light, with the hockey laces very secure, and hold more cleats than the 5000's. I find the 1100 studs easier to change than the screw in 5000's actually. The only con is I am finding myself changing the studs on the 1100's more because they can fall out from time to time, but again not a big deal.

My Korkers are so old I have no idea what model they are, come to think of it, when I purchased them, they were the only model available.....:huh:
Still got the original laces and spikes on them, but the spikes are pretty much shot, should probably shop for a new pair before the fall run gets here and I start jetty jumping again......

Here is something to consider, If you fish the lace ups, and venture below the high water line to retrieve fish you have to be aware that lace ups can hang up on mussels especially if you mis step into a hole or between rocks.
Solution: A good 10 ft Gaff Small hook, Bamboo or Aluminum extention Pole.

I also have the Korkers convertable wading boots. They are great for walking a beach and then standing on little finger jetties or the nice and safe jetties to fish the pockets. However, they are not good ennough for really tough jetties - I know I've taken a fall and slid down into the rocks on one of the safer jetties.

A good mod is to replace the laces with rock climbing rope - it will stand up to sharp rocks.

I haven't had a problem with them yet.I really don't like the sandal style their like wearing clod hoppers!!The boots give me awesome support,and I haven't had issue with slipping yet.Which ones do you have Greg??I've got the stream born wader boots.

I upgraded my 1100's with waterproof hiking boot laces. They are thicker than the laces that came with them and they are longer and hold a knot well. With that said, I still throw some Duct tape on them to ensure they stay on. I wrap the duct tape over the laces and around my ankles kinda like I was getting my ankle taped for football again. Never had a problem.

does anyone still use the golf rubbers with the spikes? Do they still make them? they were my 1st pair of korkers, when the suds would fall out I would replace them with nuts & bolts. Have not seen them for years, I have a pair of both types now laces & buckles never had a problem with either.

I actually tried rock climbing rope, and that army utility rope called parachute rope or something and I found it slipped when wet. I tried the hockey laces (after someone suggested it) and found them to not slip at all, and actually tighten the more wet they got. You can also get different lengths and they cost like 4 bucks a pair. I get them at a local hockey supply store, but whatever works is good with me, this is just my opinion. Carry on!!
