I plan to launch sunday morning between 730 and 8. I have been launching out of Keyport Marine but I don't think I will be able to get under the bridge at that time due to high tide. I have also launched at the municiple ramp but think that the lot there may be full by that time. Is there another place to launch in the area or should I head to Atlantic Highlands? The problem with going to Atlantic Highlands is that I have never been there before. I am not sure where to go and I will have 3 striper virgins including 2 kids so I would like to get on some fish for them.

Seaclusion,

The municiple ramp at Atlantic Highlands is very nice. The ramp can launch 3-5 boats at one time. I think it is $15 for boats up to 29' and $30 over 29'. Parking is tough but they will shuttle you back to the boat for free. (I tipped the guy $5.00)

I wish Cape May had a set up like that one.

I have a lot of experience in that area. Personally, if you're not worried about getting your lower half too wet, you can easily launch from several places in the surf or behind sandy hook.

I don't know your physical shape, but if you can lug your 'yak and gear down to one of the several bay access areas, you'll have an easy launch.

We launch from Atlantic Highlands exclusively all summer long. We get there about 7:00 am and have never had a problem with crowds or parking. They sometimes make you park far away but they do shuttle you if you want. I walk most times because it is faster. Nice big ramp and it is easy to get to. I'm not sure the street name to turn off of 36. It's about 15 min from the parkway. Hope this helps, we'll be there Sunday at 7-7:30.

Suck it up and carry it down. You probably want someone to reel the fish in for you and then clean them. :D

Sorry - I'm so into my new kayak that i forgot you might not have a kayak and might actually have been thinking about launching a real boat.

:D

Good Luck,
