I'm considering replacing all the automotive type lamps in my running, deck and cabin lights with LED replacements. I'd also like to add deck lighting in red for night fishing. Has anyone tried this? I'd appreciate any advice offered.

Go for it. Make sure the bulbs have a constant current driver or they WILL blow. superbrightleds.com sells some real crap so be careful. I get my bulbs from www.dealextreme.com . Slow shipping from HK but free. They also sell some crap, but you can read the reviews. Most of the marine dealers sell the same crap, mark it up and slap a guarantee on the box, your choice.

Ahhhh where to begin... I have done over a dozen posts on here in the last year about using LED lights (especially the red / white).

NOT ALL AUTOMOTIVE LED BULBS ARE THE SAME!!! To put it bluntly.. I have yet to find ones that last. What's needed for a car is completely diffrent than a boat. Boats have 100% humidity almost year round, direct salt spray, and tons of other issues.

You are better off just changing out the entire fixture for ones that are COMPLETELY sealed!

You can either spend a little more money once, or a little less more times.

For my deck lights I have the standard floods you would get at west marine. 55w halogen.

I used these. They do the job but they aren't even close to the brightness of the original.

I haven't had any issues with any of my bulbs. All are about a year old + and still running strong.
