Since you posted in the stiped bass forum I guess you want to know about stripers. I heard some being caught on clam by the breakers.
Don't try the little egg reef for stripers beyond the three mile limit. Heard some fluke being caught but water on the bottom is still cold.

Just got back. Drifted Little Egg, Beach Haven and off Holgate. Got short fluke so we decided to have fun and chase the birds in the inlets and grabbed a bunch of little blues. Fun to catch...Fun to eat. Weather was great except when the tide started going out the wind was working against it. No drift....Went back to the blues!!

If you are striper or weakfish fishing, the bay is where the action is happening. Flounder fishing is very spotty, though a 13 pounder was just caught in great bay. Cocktail blues are all over, if you are clamming and chumming, they will get you in the bay. Sea bass are picking up, particularly if you get on a wreck. The reefs are showing some life, and may break open any day. Pretty much you better be happy just to be out there. Hope my tips help....

And the bunker is starting to show up.

Thank you all for the info. Next time I will post the day before I plan a trip. This was a last min trip. (I find myself always having good luck with last min trips.) I have been fishing this area much more now that my dad has moved to Mystic island. It's good to see people here wanting to help others get knowlege and fish in the boat.
Thanks in advance

I was out looking for striped bass but did not find any! Drifted a few hrs for fluke at many depts and locations. 1 throw back and one very nice 3 lb sea bass. Wind made for a very fast drift, 8oz hardley kept you down. Decided to go get some blues, finally found them at the clam stakes. 10 blues in the boat in 40 min to end a beautifull day out on the water. Not bad for my first time out this year. I was just glad to be out fishing and not working.
