Last fall turned out to be one of the very best fall striper seasons we have had fishing for trophy size stripers in the Delaware Bay in recent years. We only target trophy size stripers in the 20-50 lb. plus range and had limits on almost every trip from early November until late December when we called it a season.

There are a number of things I believe contributed to the excellent fall striper season we had last season and I have listed some of them here. Almost all our trips were for a minimum of 8-10 hours which gives our charters the opportunity to fish parts of both the incoming and outgoing tides since one tide often produces when the other does not. We do not fish by the clock if possible so if the bite starts up towards the end of the trip, we do not pick up and leave to go back to the dock. Second we get the very freshest bunker bait available which we often pay a premium for. Third at least half our trips were over on the Delaware side of the bay where there is far less boat traffic especially on weekends and holidays, (we have a Delaware Charter Boat License to legally fish in Delaware waters). Lastly, the crew of the Hooked Up II is the one of the absolute best there is when it comes to targeting and catching trophy stripers. Add all this up plus the comfort of the Hooked Up II (heated salon, satellite TV for fall football, hot fresh coffee, etc.) and it makes for the very real possibility of having one of the very best fall striper trips many will ever experience.

We will be offering a limited number of 6 hour trips departing late afternoon app (4 pm) and fishing into the evening targeting for trophy stripers. These trips offer an excellent chance of providing some great striper fishing on fish in the 20-50 lb. class. Contact us for additional details on one of these trips or the 8-10 hour trips we offer. A couple of the major reasons we were so successful last fall on large stripers was we never fish by the clock if possible plus we try to schedule all our trips when the best striper fishing is taking into consideration the wind and tides ect.

  • Open dates at regular pricing which can be found on our web page under the Fall Striper section at www.cavemansportfishing.com If you have 2-3 in your party we will hold one of these dates for you and match your group up with another one to make a full party of 6 anglers.

PS: All bait is provided free on every trip so there are no additional expenses for bait on the Hooked Up II.

We have many great dates available after December 8th at this time and we had great striper fishing last fall throughout December with our last trip Dec 27 with a limit catch of trophy stripers

On a majority of our trips last fall we try to fish locations that are away from the large fleets that are found on the NJ side of the bay. We fished quite a few of our trips last fall on the Delaware side of the bay where there is far less boat traffic plus great structure that holds large stripers. This was another reason that contributed to us having such a great season last year on trophy stripers. On many trips we limited out when many other charter boats struggled fishing closer to Cape May in the fleet. A Delaware Charter boat license is required to fish on that side of the bay which we have and the Delaware Fish and Game do check NJ registered boats to make sure charter boats fishing on their side of the bay do have the proper license. It does cost us more in fuel to make the farther run but it paid off last fall in the number and size of the stripers we caught.

This is also why we strongly suggest doing at least an 8 hour trip which allows us to go to run a location that gives us best chance is put a great catch together.

It has been a later than normal start to the trophy striper fishing in South Jersey but this has all changed the last few days with boats limiting out on stripers nice size stripers over 25 lbs. We have Monday Dec 2 open for a regular charter or open boat trip. Our next available date is December 9th and are open for the rest of December except 11/13. We plan to fish as long as there are stripers to be caught.

Another good striper trip on the Hooked Up II and a great Thanksgiving to everyone

Another good trip trolling along the beach front yesterday. We ended up with a total of 16 stripers with 8 decent size keepers up to 25 lbs plus plus some action on slammer blues. This is the second trip in a row that produced steady action on stripers with a few slammer blues mixed in. We heard that some nice fish were also caught chunking today on the Delaware Bay and possibly after the big blow the next few days we will see more large trophy stripers caught chunking the like last fall.

On all our trips we are set up to
either troll or chunk depending on what will we feel will produce the best striper catch.

Out next open date is December 2 and are available for a regular 8 hour charter or possibly an open boat trip for up to 6 anglers. We do have open dates after December 9th and plan on running some open boat trips on those dates when we do not have regular charters and will announce the dates on the Bass Barn open boat forum.
We will run for stripers as long as they are around and hopefully that will be right up and through the holiday season.
