[Double K's]

I was checking out my boat and noticed a crack where the propeller attaches to the lower unit. The crack is about two inches long on the lower unit. I didn't get a chance to look into it deeper I had to go to work. But can this be welded on the lower unit or some kind of bonding? Will it be ok without nothing. I don't know what could have happend. I don't believe it was there last year. Any kind of help would be great.

Did water freeze inside the lower portion of the lower unit? Was the lower unit portion facing the sky when it rained/snow/freeze?

I had the unit straight down. Maybe the last snow we got made its way in there.
