So my first real Striper trip wasn't a disaster. Broke the CM Canal @ 6:30 and headed to Tusseys north. Only hooked a couple of sharks. Finally went to plan B which was 60ft. After about an hour and my hands killing me from shucking clams my line started to run. When all said and done I had A nice 37 incher in the box. About 15 minutes later line ran again, but new guy must not have hit'er hard enough and she spit the hook. Still not bad for first shot. Thanks to all the guys who sent me some words of wisdom. You will be hearing from me again.

That's a pretty good first trip. Hope you had a nice dinner.

You don't have to shuck the clams. All you do is smash the point of one into the top of another. It breaks them right open.
