NJ holds the permits for the 15 reefs, NJ and private contributers also paid to have the reefs built. Good luck in getting the MAFMC to fund commercial reefs in federal waters.
The intent is good. The authors of the resolution are not up on who would have to pay for the permit applications, who would hold the permits and supervise the construction and maintenace of the reefs. We are working on educating them.

FACT:
The Sandy Hook reef site contains 2,066,293 cubic yards of dredge rock material. Ninety-five percent of the reef material on Sandy Hook Reef is rock.



FACT:
Axel Carlson Reef site contains 1,117,980 cubic yards of dredge rock material. Ninetyseven percent of the reef material on Axel Carlson Reef is rock.

The Shark River reef site contains 3,947,296 cubic yards of dredge rock material. Ninety-six percent of the reef material on Shark River Reef is rock.
