2/3rds of the team have no trade clauses:mad:

True, the days when they could trade for a veteran way past his prime (see adam oates, dale hawerchuk, etc.) and ride them to an early playoff exit are long gone. Seriously though, the Flyers have way too much money tied up in underperforming players. Briere, for one, is a one-dimensional power pay specialist whose contract is weighing the team down, and Hartnell is making five million or so as nothing more than an above average player. While I don't know that Homer has done a great job, I think he's done better than Clarke.

They Waived Cote and Syvret, if they LTIR Emery that gives them 1.8mil to spend on a prorated salary if they want a rental. They do have some prospects Nodl, Maroon, Bodrov. Plus they could use a roster player in a deal, (IE Coburn, Parant)

There are moves to be made if your creative and Holmgren has shown to be creative. Not like Clarke left him much wiggle room to start with...

If this team doesnt win in the next 3 years then they have to rebuild. Guys I would try and move before Wed are:

Gagne (no trade) ask him to waive it?
Hartnell (no trade) ask him to waive it?
Carter (if the return is good)
Coburn (there would be plenty of teams willing to take a chance on him because of his size and speed)
Boucher (teams just dont give him goal support even when he plays good see Chicago and San Jose)
Giroux (if the return is good) I would move him for a player like Patrick Sharp. The Flyers need a scoring RW! I think Giroux has the speed and vision but he is soft on the puck and hasnt gotten bigger to compete in the NHL.

The Flyers just also placed Cote on waivers and Emery on LTIR. I would venture to say Sugar Ray's season is over and so is his NHL career.

Gagne is one of the best two way players in the game, yes he is on the downside of his career but is still a bargain cap wise, no way do I want to trade him.

Boucher is our backup goalie now that Emery is on LTIR, your going to dump him to just pickup someone else?

Giroux is a first year player with maybe the best vision on the ice, some of the passes I have seen him make this year have been incredible. He is currently 6th on the team in points and has a way higher ceiling that Patrick Sharp will even have.

Carter is having a down year and still leads the team in goals, shots, GWG, Points... No way do I dump him...

Fish4Life I am sure you are not GM...

Gagne isnt worth keeping. He is injury prone. And if he is such a great two way player why is he a -4? He has 7 G and 19 A hardly worth 5 million a season! His contract is not cap friendly. Clarke had no clue how to structure a contract for a better cap hit.

Carter is way overrated! His shooting percentage is only 10%. Your sniper shouldnt have a shooting percentage of 10%. So your happy with Carter taking 1/3 of your teams 30 or so shots on goal in a game and maybe getting one goal? He also misses wide many times and it creates odd man rushes against us. I am not saying move him for someone washed up but if you can get good value for him its worth it. Oh and JVR is tied with Carter for the lead in GWG's. In the end Carter is good value for 5 million per year.

Giroux has tons of potential but he needs to get stronger as does JVR. I think JVR will end up being the better player in the end. People like players who can wow them but you need to make the simple passes to put the puck in the net. Giroux has great vision that is a god given talent but if he doesnt bulk up player will just knock him over or take the puck from him time and time again.

Flyers are looking at Dan Hamhuis, a D-man from Nashville.

Parent and Coburn.

Young talent for another guy who will want a big long term deal.

This team is not good enough to piss away young guys to try and win now. They don't even have a friggin goalie

Guess we will have to agree to disagree on some of these...

I can agree that gagne isn't what he once was but he still plays big minutes a night and is a bargain over guys like hartnell for what you get in return. Yes the past few years he has been bit by the injury bug, but so has Briere whom is the most over paid guy on the team.

Cater yes I would like to see him have a higher shooting percentage but he is currently 6th best on the team at that 10% and as I said before is having an off year. As you said he is a good value at 5 mil I can't think of a player making 5 mil or less that I would trade him for...

Giroux - it's way to early to give up on guys like Giroux and JVR, watching Partick Kane in the olympics makes me think about the potential some of these guys have, and they are certainly a value at # 6 & 7 in pts for Rookie players. JVR actually still has a shot at Rookie of the Year...

Mako Man maybe I should rip Gagne everyday and he will play like he is tonight?
lol if thats what it takes, Giroux had a 3 point night as well, looks like some rest did these guys some good. I think Richards forgot the olympics is over and was playing lights out hockey...

They looked good in the 3rd period. Stamkos really looks like the real deal now. He really gets into the holes and get his wicked shot off. Tampa would be so much better if their D could hold their own. The Flyers just skated through them.
