We have our 7 fishes feast every Christmas Eve. Even though it's all about the tradition, every now and then we'll add something different. This year my brother whipped up some lightly fried "Maji bites" with a mustard dill dip. OUTSTANDING!!!

No smelts this year though :(

There was a show on the Feast of the 7 fishes over in Italy and there were many differences region by region.

There were only 4 similarities that seemed to be in EVERY Region:

Eel

Calamari

Bacala

Smelts

Partneship you should have answered my Trivis thread?
There are no exact 7 fishes to eat on that feast.
The 7 fishes vary from family to family.
The reason that Eel, bacala, smelts and calamari seem to always show up is that back in depression days these were the most inexpensive fishes.
And yes, seafood counts.
