when you register itll give you a little card to print out and a few weeks later youll get one in the mail (which actually isnt much better than the one you print out) ... but theres no separate license like for hunting or freshwater that you have to go pay for at a store...
glad i could help smells like fish... lets hope that little dancin banana brings me some luck and maybe some warmer water hahaha
lic will be required next year in NJ...iam betting it will be like 25 to 30 $$...the trenton theives will have some more monsy to waste.....the money should only be used for saltwater fishermen and women....access , ramps, .....JS
NJ drug their feet on this for the last couple of years, assemblymen Van Drew wants the NJ registry to remain free, most politicians and some fishermen want the state to charge a fee, but only as long as the money is used to hire more game wardens, or used for other saltwater fishing resources.
As with any pool of money in this state....(and that includes my pension money).....the corrupt politicians have a habit of dipping into those funds to pay for their own pet projects and other wasteful spending sprees, and because of this Van Drew and many others want it to remain cost free to fishermen. This argument has kept the assembly from passing a NJ registry, therefore we must comply with the federal registry and apply with NOAA.
As stated, it is free this year, but could cost as much as $25.00 next year if the state doesn't pass a law that complies with the federal standard.
As with anything the government starts, and this is being started with "all good intentions" to formulated better fishing regulations with better catch statistics and not the junk science that has been used for many years. But as with anything our government starts with "all good intentions" this thing will most likely grow into a two headed monster that will cost us dearly, and do nothing to benefit our sport or fishing in general.
Either way, we are now forced to comply, or face penalty if we are caught fishing without either a state compliant registry card, or one from the federal government......
