I gotta vent. I went to the show on sunday, getting some ideas of an upgrade end of 010 into 011. I've been looking more towards the idea of an enclosed cabin style, like that of the parkers, but at the same time keeping an open mind with the possibility of a WA design. I step onto a everglades and was talking to the rep. there asking what models they have and tell him I've been looking at an idea of something enclosed like the parkers. Now, comes the best from this guy, he tells me their junk, he sold them at one time, which now tells me so he lied to sell the parkers as to how good they are and I'm now going to trust his judgement when he tells me the boat he now represents is the best. I turned to him and said good by and I'd never purchase a boat from any manuf. that has to put down another to direct someone towards their boat. This guy was an absolute a$$. I know times are tough but this is the next step of what it will come to from a sales person.

I have to say I think that alot of the sales people are just out to make a buck and don't know much. The rest of your stuff is right on.

Dave, my intent to visiting this show, knowledge. This is also why it will take me till end of yr to come up with a boat I may purchase and time to touch and feel the different manuf. designs. I currently own a 18 cc and at this point is 8 yrs old, my fishing styles have changed as well as I've become older and looking for more protection from the elements. I was very set with a design like stated of the parkers or similar, but then instead of keeping my options narrow I also am considered a wa style design. I am looking for enclosed helm, bunk area for an over night at marina, fishing space in way of usable deck and very utilitarian. I like the idea of room for a folding chair. The other main idea for visiting a show was to see the same boat in different lengths to see the major difference in the two different lengths. I was on a baha cruiser 25ft and next was a 27 ft, the major difference in length was the bow, more leg room below, the actual deck space( from roof structure to stern) in length was the same and added a ft in beam.

I was very taken a back by this persons comments. He should have handled it very professional by outlining the comfort or designs that make the boat usable. He could have asked my main reason for looking at this other boat and could they match some of what I was looking for in a boat. I do know it wasn't late in the day, we got there at 11am, so the crowds of on lookers were not thick.

Dave, thanks for the thought of asking people here of their experience with certain models, but so far i haven't narrowed down a manuf..The only items I have narrowed down is length of 23-25, trailerable to transport off season.

salty i hear you.. i tried to by a vehicle at a dealership and they kept trying to tell me what they wanted rather than what i wanted ...my brother refuses to deal with any salesmen.. he does his own research, pricing and goes to the dealer and asks for the manager..no bs from a salesman...you have to clearly define what you are going to primarily use the boat for and then find the boat to fit your needs.. if you plan to sleep onboard or need a place for kids to play or get out of the elements than i would go with the biggest wa you can afford and handle...if you plan on fishing with a couple of buddies and like you stated want some protection you cant go wrong with a parker or the less expensive c-hawk(watch for headroom) if you are looking pure fishability go with a center console.. again once you narrow just post a thread saying looking at a "whatever" what do you tbink barners.. you will get all the info you need

Was this a salesman or a rep for the company??

Not trying to defend him here (I think it's total bs what he did).

Everglades are not in the same category as Parkers. It's like going to a BMW dealership and saying you really like the Kia Sectra...... apples to oranges. Maybe that's what the guy was thinking when he said what he did.

Some people just suffer from foot in mouth disease.

Never asked which part of the company he represented. I do now he doesn't represent the company as a whole, each have their ---holes. I mentioned to him I have been looking at the parkers, liked that style and was curious as to what everglades has.

SS, thats why I kept an open mind and was curious as to what some of the other manuf. have to offer.

I worked for a guy like that once. We were at the AC show with other dealers and all he did was trash the other dealers and any other brand of boat anyone talked about. Sorry thing was the customers knew more about the brand we were selling than he did.

Salty,

I had a similar experience last year at the AC show. I went there to buy a new engine. I was trying to talk to the Evinrude ETec sales guy and he was a complete dufous..he was constantly looking around (amd not at hot boat-show babes) while I was trying to talk to him about the evinrudes, which I told him I was a 25 year evinrude guy but was leaning towards a Yamaha..he said that Yamaha engines were JUNK..I said if that is the case then explain to my why 97% of the outboard powered boats at this show have one on the transom? He was a total *** and after his comment, I moved on....needless to say I ended up with a Yamaha...he certainly put out no effort to try to sell me an Etec...
