I believe if you are going to buy 30s, buy 30wides, same for 50s. Always buy the wides in lieu of narrows to fit more line. What about 30s vs 50s.? Penn or Shimano- the price differential is minimal. Is it better to get 50 wides than 30wides. Mostly trolling 50lb mono. Seems like we are all trolling further and further back (wwwwwb). need more line for that? any thoughts and input would be appreciated. have tiagra 30lrs and penn 6/0s now both hold 500yds. thks

With the popularity of using braided lines, the need for "wides" isn't quite as dire. Those old standard 50's weigh a little less than a new 50 VSW, also. But if you're fishing strictly mono then the extra capacity on the wides can't hurt!
