Well after numerous emails, and phone calls, i decided on a liferaft and Epirb. Just got both in, and i'm sitting here thinking to myself: Dam!! I just spent over $2000 on equiptment for the boat, and i can't do a thing with them. Not that i want to use them, but wow! And i still have to get a chartplotter.(without the Mrs. knowing)

sounds like a pretty good deal if you got a raft and epirp for around 2K. What brands and size? Always good things to have on any trip.

Welcome to the club. I bought my EPIRB and LIFERAFT 3 weeks ago at the Canyon Runner seminar but I told them not to ship it until April 15th.

I would have tried that, but she's no dummy. Now that she knows i'm looking for a chartplotter, she's researching all the different brands and models. She wants to know why i just can't get a handheld Gps. And my lameass excuse was: i would get a handheld, but i can't see the screen because of my eyesight

Well the life raft will make a nice emergency cover when the wife kicks you out of the house.

You cant do anything with them and hopefully they will rot on your boat for the next 20 years never having been used, but it is nice knowing they are there. Good luck in never using them.

You need the chartplotter to keep the radio and EPIRB updated with position data...For safety of course...

If you want a new Garmin try mobile marine. He will beat anyone's price. he did that for me. He also is a paid sponsor and has a web site. they will ship it to your house!

I must be lucky ( or my wife must love me). If I have to buy any safety equipment for the boat the wife always says "don't go cheap".
