I haven't tried Gulp baits yet....

Can someone give me advice on the rig used for it and what kind they recommend. I have seen them in the stores, just wasn't sure of colors/flavors/shapes.

Thanks

A handful of skilled anglers turned me onto the Gulp Shrimp baits this summer.

I fish them on a jig head like you would a Fin-S, Bass Assassin, Zoom, or any other soft plastic.

I did see a few folks Carolina riggin' their gulps in NJ and know quite a few talented fisherman doing the same down in (if you can imagine) the Carolinas.

I slammed flounders, weakfish, and croakers on them. The baby togs love them, too.

You want the Saltwater Gulp and they all work unbelievely ! There are different flavors and certain flavors are species specific to an extent. Shapes and colors may make a slight difference to the fish in very clear water but they are much more for the fisherman.

Last Fall Berkley came out with a 5" Jerk Shad which at the present gets my vote as the best. I really did a number on the stripers on these last fall. They have a shape like a Fin-S and give you some good movement as well as the flavor.

I was jigging them on the bottom on a 3/4 oz jig head.

I really think as everyone gets more experience with the GULP it is going to get even more effective. I Promise I will allways have a complete selection available in the store.

There was a Storm rep at the SWS seminar and he had all the new plastics coming out. He had some nice stuff. They have some new swim shads,3" & 4" - 1/4 & 7/16 oz in a multiple of colors. They look pretty good. They have a nice pink one that looks like it would be great for weaks.

Dave is the man to see for the largest and newest on the market GULP! baits. I can attest to that..

One of my favorites - rigged on a Kalin 3/8 -1/2oz jig/lead head and fished around structure-Bridges,pilings etc...

Bucktail Willie- Was curious why you thought the Gulp shrimp didn't work in Florida? I'm scheduled to go to Marco Island in April and have had much success in the past w/ shrimp on a red bucktail. anted to substitute Gulp copper penny shrimp but will not if it's not as good as the real deal

FishingLuhrs, I have no idea why I'm not catching on Gulps down here
live Shrimp on a brown bucktail has been producing but nothing happening when using Gulps
I intend to keep trying but so far no success and nothing like the success I had this summer
