Is it one bonus tag per year per angler? Or after you use the tag and file the report, etc, can you buy another tag?

no; if you have an 09 tag that was not used its trash now.
What I never realized was that you can get an endless amount of tags. So for $2 bucks, you can always have the ability to keep 3 fish per day everyday if you want.

This state only cares about money, nothing else! It may only be $2 per person, but if 1000 people a day use one, that's an extra $2,000 for them. This should be a good example to think of when people want to talk about how the new registry, and sooner than later license, is going to help the fishery and make fishing better. The government, especially in NJ, doesn't give a flying hoot about the fishery; they saw how passionate we as fisherman are about the sport and saw an opportunity to make some money. Its all about money; always.

Get a tag online, pay $2 online.
Catch/keep a 3rd legal sized fish, fill out the tag on the water, report it that night online.
Once reported, you can buy a new one for $2.
The cycle repeats until the year ends, and then you need a new tag showing the new year.

Someone asked me this, so I'm passing the buck: Why buy new bonus tags? couldn't you buy your first bonus tag, make 25 copies of it, catch your 3rd fish, fill out a bonus tag, go back to the marina, clean your fish, take it home, throw that bonus tag away, (providing no one has seen it) Next trip out take a new bonus tag from your stack and use that. This process could be repeated over & over. I know this is illegal. I don't do it. JUst asking if this is a gap in the rules that needs to be looked at?

Yes, it is a gap in the rules that I am sure people take advantage of. you are absolutely correct and I don't understand why. it is only two dollars for a tag. I filled one last fall . so it cost me four dollars last fall . omg it is sooooo exspensive . come on people get a grip.
I'm not seeing it on the site now, but last Fall there absolutely was a link where you could download a "logbook page", print it out, and send it in. I don't recall reading it was mandatory though.
