Can anyone help me on this? I am in the market for some new rods and want to know what people think of Chaos rods.....

Who has them?

What are the pros/cons in your opinion?

(I know the company wents out of business, but I am curious nonetheless)

Out of Business

They went under, still owing some significant $$$$ to the original owners. The original principals have taken over as Boomerang Rods. you can find them at www.boomerangfishingfishing.com. They make some nice stuff.

Yep that is a fact CHAOS went under.

Met the guy from Boomerang said his Dad was the founder of Choas, and that the man they sold the company to had beat them royally. They had Boomerang rods at the 2010 AC boat show last month. Same model numbers same exact looking rods, just a different name. Said his Pop was building his rods again under the Boomerang name.

I have 6 Chaos tuna rods and if he was lying he could of fooled me, if so then these Boomerangs were damm good knockoffs
--- The Chaos / Boomerang rods downside in my opinion is that they are a bit pricey.

I will comment from a rod builders perspective. The workmanship of the rods is very good. You will see rods being sold under many different brands, at prices from $200-500 that are not as good a quality as the Chaos rods. I attribute this statement based on their construction techniques.
The others are right, the new company 'Boomerang' is pretty much doing what they have always done, that is, exceptional work. They have a good cosmetic appearance, Gold and Black wrappings.
If you are looking for 4 or more rods then I would recommend that you look around. If you needed a set of 30's, 50's you could easily go $1,000-2,000. A couple spins, boat rods etc and the price tag keeps climbing.
If you are going to spend the money, why not compare. I offer a line of Fish Poison rods that will compare in quality, durability to anything in the marketplace at any price. 20 years of service is likely. You can pick colors, boats name, fish decals, length, strength, so many options. Ask the person you are talking to to tell you what components are used and what makes them better[this is important]. You might find a custom guy like Paul JPR, Bullseye, myself and others could give you as good a deal.
A word of caution. I have heard and seen many horror stories from ebay purchases. Or, if the rod is so good why is it built in China? Good luck, if you have a chjance stop in or give a call, you will probably save money.

POISON ,JUST CHECKED OUT YOUR SIGHT AND ALL THAT STUFF IS BEAUTIFUL .EVEN THE WIFE COMMENTED.NOW SHE EITHER WANTS SOMETHING FROM ME OR SHE REALLY LIKED YOUR WRAPS!HUM:thumbsup:
They used to make good rods. Left a lot of unhappy people in their wake when they went under. Customers and suppliers.
they sold so many rods they went out of business:D
I have 8 Chaos trolliong rods in 30-50 AND 50-80 lb class. they do very well for my crew:)
I have 8 trolling rods from chaos. they are of good quality however the warrantess are now worthless.....

you should be able to get a set of customs from a local builder of the same or higher quality for similar price though PLUS have the ability to get a little more customization on the build. had i known that 4 or 5 years ago i would have gone that route and supported a local builder/barn sponser. there are several on this board who do very impressive work.

Last week was Valentines day:eek:, mothers day is coming! I'm going to post pic's of some new Pink rods soon.
All my rods are Chaos, and I have been extremely pleased after four seasons of use. I have four ST30-50's, two ST50-100's, (all with the Stewart guides), two ECL 15-30 stand up rods, and two SPGF 12-20 light tackle/inshore. Love the action on all of them. Fought a Bluefin Tuna of 150# on one of the ECL 15-30 for over an hour and a half. Still can't believe the rod is still in use, as several times it was completely bent in a "U" during the fight. Was sorry to hear about the company going under, and would probably buy off of the original/new owner again.
With Bogan, JPR, and Bullseye here there's really no need to look elsewhere.

I have several Bogan rods and am saving up for a JPR jigging stick. Just trying to spread the love!
fyi...Chaos is back in business with the original owner. If you send them the crappy chinese rods you purchased(if you did) they will replace them with good rods at a really good deal.

Fyi.... this is just what i read on hulltruth- both owners new and old were going at it. check out the owners new website.
