Last season you might remember we got a pair of the readi-rig planar boards. Our initial tests did not go so well out in the ocean on a rather sloppy day running stretch 25 and 30s. Today we were fishing the Raritan bay and is was glass calm and we wanted to try present some additional baits. Our testing went much better!

We were running a stretch 25 and a X-Rap 20 off the rod tips in the gunnels. We also ran two lines off the rocket launcher each of these to two a Redi-rig planar. Both of these rods were using metered lead core line one was attached to a stretch 30 and the other was attached to a stretch 25. We found with the use of the planar the lines were 15-20' wider than the lines that were being run off the rod tips in the gunnels. We were easily able to run four rods, we were able to make sweeping turns without massive tangles, and we found that the stoppers held the plugs and the lead core at the selected depth.

I wanted to provide an update as we were able to utilize the planars as advertised and in calm conditions we found that the planars enabled us to run a larger spread, present more baits and catch fish!!!
