Sorry I let March 1 slip by. Hopefully some will be able to get out this month. I had 59 degree water on the Gulf side yesterday, very poor fishing. Guys on the reef had water in the 70's & good catching on kings, cero yellowtails, mangroves & mutton. No dolphin, wahoo or sails.

Ah, the story isn't too exciting. These fish were stocked in the pond in the fall. I feed them everyday. I even had some coming up when there was just a small opening in the ice. They are pretty good looking for stockers though it looks like this one has a bum eye.
Flyguy looks pretty good too, even with his bum eye:D:D

ray, if you find yourself getting tickled by a wild hair and wish to chase little slimy things let me know i'll take you out and put you on a quality experience.
Sounds like he is going to take you to " Baby Dolls" down the street from his house:eek:

Got out for a couple hours today. the weather was a dream, it felt so nice being warm in shirt sleeves and i even picked a few off top. they were beautiful "little slimy things" but it is nice to put the long rod skills to the test and get the first fish of the year in hand. the snow has me behind schedule.

In the last 2 days we have lost most of the ice on the ponds here. Trout season is closed however till the 2nd sat in April. I think it is still a bit cool to go wading for bass

Didn't go fishing this weekend, but was close enough to water to want too. Went up to a Bed and Breakfast for the weekend up in Bucks County for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Did the Lambertville, New Hope, Peddlers Village, and Doyles town thing. The water on the Delaware River really looked great. It was nice and clean, compared to other times I have gone up there and the current didn't look too bad. Didn't see a single person fishing anywhere, othewise I would of given it a shot.

Will try for some pickerel or bass before I put the boat in the water.

I've been watching several water ways this late winter. It's been a very good thaw. Slow with no flooding. The rivers are for the most part are running a little high but that's normal. Because of the nice slow melt there's really been no flooding. No turbulent, mud filled, 3 feet above normal chocolate milk weeks. I think this bodes well for the early season, barring any catastrophic inundations over the next couple weeks. I may even get out in my local creek for smallmouth this weekend.

Very slow but not neccasarily deep. Especially edies. An Assassin bounced methodicaly along the bottom. A nice big olive Wooly Buger drifted thru a hole. Strikes this time of year are really just sharp ticks, barely noticable. Feel a tick or even just a "heavyness" then strip strike, may be a bass. Not the savage hits smallmouth usually perform.

Was able to get out front for a bit this AM Water temp 65.7, 3 degrees warmer than last trip. Little more wind than I like but we had a pretty steady pick of reef fish. Had a few spanish mackeral on the 10 wt. (I did say it was windy) & this decent grouper on a spinner. Had to release due to grouper closure.
