hopefully gonna repower the boat this feb.

without going into a debate about brands does anybody know if the rigging is the same going from a 1996 ocean runner 225 hp to a 2001 ficht 250hp i hear that i need a oil tank w/ a return line. no big deal my tank now has a blocked off return so i'm good there. is the wireing the same?
how about throttle and shift ??

any info would be helpful as i'll be doing this myself if its a match :thumbsup:

Not hard to do if you have a motor lift/cherry picker, I've done several. You might need an impact to get the bolts out due to corrosion or the type of sealant used on the bolts.

thanks mike i've got all the tools and think i'm pretty good w/ the wrenches(was a mechanic) but have never tackled a large outboard and was hoping i wouldn't have to :( but this sounds like it will be a money saving experience:D:thumbsup:

You could do it in a weekend depend on the condition of the all the hoses, cables, shifting and stearing. When you touch anything it could all go bad or easy. I'd replace anything that looks a bit funky everything is readily available. I swapped a set of twins in a weekend, by myself but an extra hand makes it go easier.

thanks again mike i'll be sure to look everything over real good while im doing it. everything looks and was in good working order when she failed but when things start comming apart you are right things could turn sour
new hoses for fuel and oil will be in order steering is seastar hyd.

this is much better than trashing each others teams :thumbsup:
